7 Stars Who Slammed Trump Order at SAG Awards

The Screen Actors Guild Awards happened as protests against President Trump's immigration order were taking place nationwide Sunday—and the awards show itself was political right from the start, with Ashton Kutcher welcoming everyone in the crowd "and everyone in airports that belong in my America." He added: "You are a part of the fabric of who we are, and we love you and we welcome you." A selection of six more anti-Trump moments, per the Hollywood Reporter, Mashable, and the AP:

2. Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The winner of best female actor in a comedy series joked about Russian hacking of the results before getting serious. "My father fled religious persecution in Nazi-occupied France," the Veep star said. "I am an American patriot. I love this country and because I love this country, I am horrified by its blemishes. And this immigrant ban is a blemish and it is un-American."

3. Taylor Schilling: "We stand up here representing a diverse group of people, representing generations of families who have sought a better life here from places like Nigeria, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Ireland," she said while accepting Orange Is the New Black's Award for best cast in a comedy series. "We know that it's going to be up to us and all of you to keep telling stories. What united us is stronger than the forces that seek to divide us."
4. Emma Stone: "We're in a really tricky time in our country and things are very inexcusable and scary and need action and I’m so grateful to be part of a group of people that cares and wants to reflect things back to society," said Stone, who won best female film actor for La La Land.
5. Lily Tomlin: "Did you hear? The Doomsday Clock has been moved up to two and a half minutes before midnight. And this award, it came just in the nick of time," quipped the lifetime achievement honoree.
6. Mahershala Ali. The winner of best male actor in a supporting role for Moonlight spoke about tolerance and about being Muslim in America, recounting about his mother, an ordained minister, "didn't do backflips" when he converted to Islam. But now, "we put things to the side," he said. "I'm able to see her. She's able to see me. We love each other. The love has grown. That stuff is minutia. It's not that important."
7. David Harbour. He spoke for the cast of Stranger Things, who won best ensemble in a drama series, and said while it is hard to celebrate in light of recent events, they still believe great acting can change the world. "As we act in the continuing narrative of Stranger Things, we 1983 Midwesterners will repel bullies, we will shelter freaks and outcasts, those who have no home," he said. "We will, as per Chief Jim Hopper, punch some people in the face when they seek to destroy the weak, the disenfranchised, and the marginalized!"
