The Washington Post isn't the only news organization with a snazzy new slogan. Advertising Age reports the New York Times will run a commercial spot during the Oscars for the first time ever Sunday. It's the Times' first TV ad since 2010, according to Business Wire. The commercial features multiple conflicting written statements all beginning with "the truth is," as well as audio of people talking about truth. It culminates with: "The truth is hard; the truth is hard to know; the truth is more important than ever." The Times is hoping to use the ad to increase subscribers and inform the public about how much work it takes to produce good, truthful news. "In a world where there is so much uncertainty about what is real and what is fake news, we remain steadfastly committed to a search for the truth," publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. says.
