Super-Strong Gin Recalled in Canada

Despite sounding like a boozehound's dream come true, Canada is recalling bottles of Bombay Sapphire London Dry Gin after they were discovered to contain nearly twice the alcohol they were supposed to, the Guardian reports. Authorities in Ontario discovered the botched batch of gin contained 77% alcohol instead of the 40% on the label. The Liquor Control Board of Ontario says the super-strong gin is "not safe for consumption" and "could cause serious illness." Overly alcoholic Bombay gin was later found across other Canadian provinces. People who bought the gin can return it for a full refund, according to the Canadian Press. So far no illnesses related to the double-proof gin have been reported. (More gin stories.)
