Rob Lowe has seen Bigfoot. The actor and his two adult sons star in The Lowe Files, an A&E reality docuseries featuring the family investigating "mysterious phenomena" across the US, per Entertainment Weekly. In an interview with the magazine to promote the show, Lowe says that while filming, they had "an incredible encounter with what locals call the wood ape" in the Ozark Mountains. Lowe explains the term is "local vernacular for a Sasquatch or a Bigfoot," though if you call it by one of those names to a local, "they roll their eyes ... as if [the name wood ape] makes it less outrageous."
Lowe says it was 1am in a remote mountain area when something started approaching the camp, "defying" orders to stop from the armed ex-military men who were with them. "I was lying on the ground thinking I was going to be killed." He doesn't go into much more detail than that, and he acknowledges that he sounds "like a crazy, Hollywood kook" simply by claiming they encountered a wood ape at all. "I’m excited to see this blow out [online] and see people be like, 'Rob Lowe lost his mind!'" he says. The incident doesn't show up on TV until the season finale of the show. The first episode of nine airs Aug. 2. (More Rob Lowe stories.)
