Helen Mirren is known for her candor and sass, and she brought all of it—maybe slightly unfortunately—to a L'Oreal panel she recently sat on while in Cannes, France. The 72-year-old actress is a brand ambassador for the skincare company, and had this to say, per the Telegraph: "I'm an eternal optimist—I know that when I put my moisturizer on it probably does f--- all, but it just makes me feel better. I've always said to L'Oreal as well that I will only do what makes me feel better."

No word from L'Oreal on whether it was bothered by her comment, but the BBC takes a look at whether moisturizers do indeed do f--- all. Its conclusion: She's wrong, assuming you're dealing with dry skin. Moisturizer brings water to the skin and traps it there, it explains.
