Authorities say 33 people have been injured in a train crash at a station in suburban Philadelphia. A spokeswoman for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority says it happened around 12:15am Tuesday, when an inbound Norristown High Speed Line train crashed into an unoccupied, parked train at the 69th Street Terminal in Upper Darby, the AP reports. The spokeswoman says 33 people aboard the train were injured. In an early morning briefing, Upper Darby Mayor Nicholas Micozzie said the victims were taken to area hospitals. He says at least four people suffered serious injuries.
"Upper Darby received a call that an inbound Norristown high-speed train came into the terminal and hit a stationed car that was sitting in the terminal unoccupied," Micozzie told reporters. "There was blood everywhere," a passenger tells CBS3. "There was this driver all banged up and there was this one girl bleeding out of her face pretty bad." None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. (More train crash stories.)
