Carles Puigdemont, the former leader of Catalonia wanted on an arrest warrant issued by Spain, has turned himself in to Belgian authorities, reports the BBC. He was accompanied by four other former high-ranking officials who were also ousted after Spain imposed direct rule on the region; all were wanted on charges of rebellion, sedition, misuse of public funds, disobedience, and breach of trust. Belgian authorities are to issue a statement shortly. The same judge who issued the warrant for Puigdemont and his advisers has jailed eight other former Catalan Cabinet members without bail, notes the AP. (More Carles Puigdemont stories.)
