In an exclusive, the Hill reports attorney Lisa Bloom, who represented two women who accused Trump of sexual misconduct and two women who considered doing so during the 2016 election, sought to get the women paid. The accusations against Bloom include having donors pay the mortgage of one of Trump's accusers and trying to get a six-figure payday from media outlets for a woman who ended up not going public with her accusations. Some of the money from selling the alleged victims' stories would also have gone to herself. While Bloom said she had no contact with Hillary Clinton or the Clinton campaign, she wouldn't comment on possible communications with Clinton-supporting super PACs.
Bloom calls the Hill's report "spurious" and "an effort to undermine the Trump accusers now that they are gaining momentum," according to the Hollywood Reporter. She accuses reporter John Solomon of "'weaponizing' stories about progressives like me to feed to Fox News." She notes that the Hill doesn't challenge the truth of the women's accusations against Trump and that none of the women say they were asked to lie about Trump's actions. Bloom says the money was not meant to pay women to accuse Trump but rather to hire security or relocate them in the case of backlash. "Multiple donors ... contacted me out of the blue with offers to ensure the safety of women who might still come forward," she says. (More Donald Trump stories.)
