It's all about two crosswalk signs that any Monty Python fan will recognize instantly—they depict John Cleese's Ministry of Silly Walks character crossing the street. The signs have been up for a while, and the story provides some background: City officials were inspired by the same sign in Norway, one that inspired people to do their best Cleese silly-walk impressions. "I sent the video to the public works director and said, 'Install these signs,' and the next thing I knew, they were in," says city manager Marc Maxwell. Not that all the locals are familiar with the gag. When questioned about the signs, one woman who works downtown asked, "You mean the jazz player on one leg?"
