Remember the "Curvy Wife Guy," aka Robbie Tripp, who made a name for himself when his Instagram post about how much he loves his wife's "thick thighs, big booty, cute little side roll, etc." went viral (and led to unimpressed reactions)? Well, he's back in the news, threatening to sue Babe.net, the website perhaps best known for publishing the Aziz Ansari accuser's account of her date with the actor. Babe "has been covering Tripp in detail," BuzzFeed News explains, and one of its writers reviewed Tripp's book, Create Rebellion. The book bills itself as a "true manifesto" for the "disruptive soul," but Babe writer Harry Shukman said that it reads more like the "Unabomber manifesto"; Shukman pulled out excerpts from Create Rebellion as well as domestic terrorist Ted Kaczynski's manifesto and dared readers to see if they could tell which one was which.
Well, that didn't go over well with Tripp: In a follow-up post, Shukman revealed Tripp sent Babe a letter to warn that he has consulted his lawyer and is considering suing the site for defamation, false light, and copyright infringement. "The website has deliberately and negligently violated my copyright in multiple articles, and has exhibited a pattern of targeted harassment of me and my reputation," the letter says. Tripp told BuzzFeed that full pages of his book were photographed and published without permission. Babe assures readers it will not be silenced by Tripp; in a statement, it declares, "Congress shall make no law preventing the trashing of a dumb book ... or the right of babe dot net to peaceably critique ‘abstract manifestos for disruptive creativity’ written by an Insta-famous weirdo obsessed with talking about his wife’s thiiiiccness."
