We still don't know where the remains of Jamal Khashoggi are, but newly surfaced video might explain how his Saudi killers moved his body. The video, which aired on Turkish television, shows men carrying five suitcases into the residence of the Saudi general consul in Istanbul on the day Khashoggi disappeared, reports Reuters. The men are believed to be members of the Saudi hit team who killed the journalist inside the Saudi embassy, located near the general consul's office. If the video is accurate, it means Khashoggi's killers dismembered his body, then packed it into the suitcases to avoid detection.
The video "leaves the impression that Khashoggi's body ended up at the consular's residence, and that's what the investigation should focus now, what happened to it there," Khalil Jahshan, executive director of the Arab Center Washington, tells Al Jazeera. By Saudi Arabia's account, rogue members of a security team killed Khashoggi on their own, though the CIA thinks crown prince Mohammed bin Salman orchestrated the murder.
