A man stole a Pepsi truck that was being unloaded in an effort to find his girlfriend, according to Tulsa police. And that was allegedly just the start of a very busy Tuesday for 45-year-old Steven Hart, who officers say then preceded to attempt to break out of jail, reports Tulsa World. Police say Hart jumped into the cab of the Pepsi truck while its driver was in the back unloading it about 8:30am, reports the Wichita Eagle. When officers caught up to him in traffic—one referenced following a "trail of soda"—they say he jumped out of the truck, which rolled forward and hit a school bus that was empty apart from the driver.
Eventually caught, Hart told police he'd been trying to get to the airport after a fight with his girlfriend. His efforts apparently weren't over. Once at Tulsa County jail, officers say he tried to escape through a controlled entryway made up of two sets of locked doors. When that didn't work, he tried to seal himself between the doors, police say. Hart was then led to a jail cell "at Taser point," according to a Sheriff's Office report. He's charged with larceny, eluding arrest, and attempting to escape. (More weird crimes stories.)
