Fifteen months later, the murder of billionaire philanthropists Barry and Honey Sherman remains unsolved—but the Toronto Star is reporting on a mysterious CCTV video and apparently lax investigating by police. Neighbors of the Shermans say they gave police security-cam footage of a man who drove up to the victims' home on Dec. 14, 2017, the day after the couple was last seen alive and the day before their bodies were found. The video shows him going in and out of the house from his sedan three times over 29 minutes before driving away. Sadly, the Sherman family's lawyer say private investigators found the footage too grainy to produce any positive ID.
Seems the neighbors had to remind officers four times to pick up the footage, which police followed up on six weeks later—around the time their probe changed from murder-suicide to targeted double murder. Police also took a full nine months to obtain DNA of people who were regularly in the Sherman house—a move typically made to rule out suspects—and now have a new lead investigator, Det. Sgt. Brandon Price. Meanwhile, the Shermans have gotten court orders to keep police findings and info on the couple's $5 billion estate under wraps, Macleans reports. They also plan to have the house demolished because of what a family agent calls "bad memories and a stigma attached due to the incident that took place," per Global News.
