After a frantic search, a prize-winning show dog that disappeared from the Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport just before it was to fly home to Amsterdam has been found. Gale, a pure-bred American Staffordshire Terrier, had been checked in by her handlers and put in a crate for the trip Saturday. When crews went to put her crate on the plane for the overseas flight, they realized she was gone, ABC News reports. "We were out of our minds," her owner said from the Netherlands. "You can imagine it's horrific to hear that a dog is gone and nobody knows where she is." "The dog somehow got out of the crate and is now running around the airfield," an airport spokesman said, adding that the area includes "about 4,600 acres of field." But on Tuesday officials said the dog had been trapped and then reunited with her owners, the AP reports. (A dog that fled California wildfires was missing for 101 days.)
