Heads Keep Rolling at Homeland Security

Wednesday is Kirstjen Nielsen's final day as Homeland Security chief—and her second-in-command will be leaving with her. Nielsen, whose abrupt departure comes as part of a wider shakeup of immigration officials, tweeted Tuesday night that Acting Deputy Secretary Claire Grady has handed in her resignation, effective Wednesday, Politico reports. She has been "a steady force and a knowledgeable voice," said Nielsen. The departure of Grady, who had been next in line to succeed Nielsen, clears the way for Kevin McAleenan to become the next acting DHS secretary as ordered by President Trump, reports CNN.
