For a while, Aziz Ansari was all over Netflix, with two comedy specials and the Master of None series. But the latter's second season came out in 2017, and he hasn't had a new comedy special on Netflix since 2015, per Vulture. Now, a surprise return, some 18 months after sexual misconduct allegations were leveled against him in a Babe.net article. Aziz Ansari Right Now will premiere next Tuesday on Netflix. The stand-up special, directed by Spike Jones, was filmed during Ansari's sets at the Brooklyn Academy of Music while on his international Road to Nowhere comedy tour, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
Ansari dropped word of the special via Twitter, reports CNN, which notes that while Ansari began touring in August, "he had previously been a dominant force on television and Netflix throughout much of his career, and in the wake of the 2018 allegation, Ansari has been largely absent from those media." Ansari's tweet includes a teaser trailer for the special, which shows him prepping behind stage and then walking out to an applauding crowd. (More Aziz Ansari stories.)
