A man believed to have killed two people in a brazen highway shooting in Houston on Thursday remains at large, along with an accomplice. Police said Friday that no arrests had been made following the shooting, in which an AR-15 rifle may have been used, per the Houston Chronicle. The chaos erupted shortly before 6pm as two cars headed eastbound on Interstate 10 collided. "One of the vehicles struck the other vehicle and spun it out," said Houston Police Assistant Chief Bobby Dobbins, per CNN. Two people then emerged from the first vehicle, with one firing multiple shots into the second car. Police say the men pursued the vehicle even as it rolled.
The men finally took off in a dark-colored sedan as a witness, believing he was about to be targeted, fired his pistol, police say. By then, two black males, ages 25 and 33, had been killed. Dobbins said narcotics were found in the vehicle occupied by the deceased. As for motive, he speculated, "Road rage? An accident? Narcotics? We just don't know." Per ABC News, a $5,000 reward is now offered for information leading to the arrest of the shooting suspect, who was seen wearing a red shirt. He's described as Hispanic, roughly 5'7", with a thin build, and is believed to be in his early 20s. Part of the interstate remained closed Friday as police continue to investigate.
