Want a unique vacation? Try going to sleep with the northern lights and waking up to polar bears. Yep, a Finnish travel company has devised a way for people to vacation in the Arctic, the Washington Post reports. Called North Pole Igloos, it will allow travelers to sleep in one of 10 glass-ceilinged, heated domes and spend the day marching around in temperatures between minus 20 and minus 40 degrees. "It's not for the fainthearted," says a research scientist. It's also not for most earthlings, considering the roughly $100,000 price tag.
Janne Honkanen, who created Luxury Action—the company behind all this—admits it's not for everyone. "We provide all of the equipment," he tells CNN. "But you definitely need to have the spirit of an explorer or scientist." Honkanen also hopes visitors will become "messengers" to the world about climate change. "I'm really worried about the climate crisis on the planet," he says. "Because of climate change, we don't know how many trips we can do up there. The North Pole is a glacier." Luxury Action will open the world's most northern hotel in April 2020. (In other travel news, a 642-foot cruise ship was cut in half.)
