It was easy to miss in Wednesday's volatile day of politics, but at some point in there, President Trump tweeted a Nickelback meme. The video has since been removed by Twitter, reports the Guardian, though you can currently watch it on YouTube. The strange chain of events began when Trump's tweet played off a meme related to the 2005 music video for the group's song "Photograph." In the video, singer Chad Kroeger holds up a photograph, and Nickelback's many haters have turned it into a meme over the years by editing in their own photos, explains Know Your Meme. In Trump's version, he takes a shot at Joe Biden by subbing in a photo of Biden and son Hunter golfing with a man labeled as a "Ukraine gas exec."
Twitter eventually removed the video and replaced it with a message: "This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner.” That could mean Nickelback, Warner Media Group, or even the person who took the photo, notes Business Insider. This isn't Trump's only recent run-in with a high-profile band. Rolling Stone reports that a member of A-ha took exception to a Trump campaign video that makes use of "rotoscoping," the animation technique famously used in the group's "Take on Me" video decades ago. “You write a song in your youth and you don’t write for a particular group of people one way or another; you write it for everyone," says Magne Furuholmen. "But then stuff like this happens." (A Trump video borrowing from The Dark Knight Rises also got yanked.)
