Magen Fieramusca has been officially charged with the murder of her close friend Heidi Broussard, whom she's accused of asphyxiating in the process of kidnapping Broussard's newborn daughter. Fieramusca was arrested on two counts of kidnapping and one count of tampering with a corpse after Broussard's body was found in the trunk of a car at her Houston-area home on Dec. 19. Broussard's healthy newborn daughter Margo Carey (variously reported as Margot) was also found at the home. On Tuesday, the Travis County District Attorney's Office said Fieramusca had been indicted on capital murder and kidnapping charges, per NBC News. A release notes that in the course of kidnapping Broussard and her daughter, "Fieramusca asphyxiated Broussard, intentionally causing her death" on or around Dec. 12.
That was the day 33-year-old Broussard was last seen alive. Her boyfriend, Shane Carey, noted her car, identification, and diaper bag had been left at the couple's Austin apartment. He said Broussard and Fieramusca, 34, had been friends for more than 10 years. An affidavit claims Fieramusca faked a pregnancy before presenting Broussard's daughter as her own. But her lawyer says prosecutors haven't disclosed any evidence against her. "We cannot act to fairly and vigorously represent our Client when we start defending her with our hands tied and eyes blindfolded," Brian Erskine says, per CNN. Defense lawyers have urged patience "until all the facts are in," per NBC. In the meantime, bond is set at $1 million for the murder charge and $100,000 for the kidnapping charge.
