The suspect accused of throwing Drew Carey's ex-fiancee off a balcony is back behind bars less than 24 hours after posting $2 million bail. Gareth Pursehouse, 41, was re-arrested on a no-bail warrant and charged Wednesday with the murder of his ex-girlfriend, family and sex therapist Amie Harwick. He was also charged with first-degree residential burglary with the special circumstance allegation of lying in wait and is eligible for the death penalty if convicted, per NBC News and Deadline. He's to enter a plea on Thursday, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, which has yet to decide if it will seek the death penalty.
Harwick died from blunt force injuries of the head and torso, according to the LA County coroner's office, which also found "evidence of manual strangulation," per Deadline. She was found on the ground below the third-floor balcony of her Hollywood Hills home—which showed signs of forced entry and a struggle, per CNN—just after 1am Saturday. Investigators say Harwick had a restraining order against Pursehouse but it was expired, and the two had seen each other in recent weeks. She was 38. (Wendy Williams drew gasps with her joke about Harwick's death.)
