Filming for the Netflix series Emily in Paris is temporarily in limbo for the worst of reasons: an assistant director died on set, reports the Independent. Diego Borella, 47, collapsed during filming in Venice, Italy, on Thursday, during preparations for a scene at Hotel Danieli. Borella was pronounced dead at the scene, with an initial assessment pointing to a sudden heart attack, per People.
Borella was an established figure in the Italian film industry, having trained in Rome, London, and New York. Filming for season five of the show has been paused in the wake of his death. Earlier in the week, lead actress Lily Collins had shared photos from the Venice shoot on social media.
