Fast & Furious actor Tyrese Gibson has turned himself into authorities in Georgia after a warrant was issued for his arrest in an incident involving his dogs allegedly killing a neighbor's dog in Atlanta. Capt. Nicole Dwyer tells CNN that Gibson, 46, turned himself in at the Fulton County Jail around 6am on Friday, where he faces a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty. He's said to have been released after posting a $20,000 bond.
Authorities say that four of Gibson's cane corso dogs fatally mauled a 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles spaniel named Henry on Sept. 18. "We still do not have the dogs," Dwyer notes, adding that Gibson's legal team "has been made aware" that Gibson's pets need to be turned over to police. However, Dwyer tells the AP, "we are glad he did the right thing and turned himself in."
Per NBC News, Fulton County police and animal control officials went to Gibson's home four days after the attack to pick up the cane corsos, but he's reported to have told them over the phone that he needed a few days to figure out what to do with his pets. In a statement posted on Gibson's social media, attorney Gabe Banks said that his client was out of town when the attack occurred but "accepts full responsibility for his dogs." Banks also said that Gibson "made the incredibly difficult decision to rehome his two adult dogs and their three puppies in safe and loving homes."

Banks says that, "despite what others might say, throughout this entire process Mr. Gibson has cooperated fully with legal authorities and will continue to do so until this matter is resolved," per CNN. Gibson "once again wants to extend his deepest condolences to the family who lost their dog and respectfully asks for privacy and understanding as this matter is handled through the appropriate legal channels," Banks added.
