Ontario kids won't have to skip school to watch Olympic hockey. Premier Doug Ford announced on social media Wednesday that he's told the province's education minister to ensure all students can tune in to the remaining Team Canada games that fall during school hours, starting with Thursday's women's gold-medal showdown against the United States, CP24 reports. His office later clarified that it's up to individual schools to decide how to organize the viewing.
- "After the incredible performances we've seen from our men's and women's hockey teams in Milan, all of Canada is cheering them on as they go for gold," Ford said in a post on X. "Let's all come together to cheer on Team Canada as they bring home Olympic gold!"
The Canadian women, chasing a fifth Olympic gold at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games, hit the ice at 1:10pm Eastern on Thursday. The men's team, now in the semifinals, faces Finland at 10:40am Friday. If they win, they will face either the US or Slovakia in Sunday's gold medal game.
