She’s been called a femme fatale, but for the people who came to her legal defense benefit in Seattle this weekend, Amanda Knox is a victim. “Amanda would be amazed at this overwhelming turnout of support,” her mother tells the West Seattle Herald. About 120 people showed up, each willing to donate $100 toward Knox’s efforts to beat murder charges in Italy.
“Because of how her case has been handled, I have lost a lot of faith in justice in the world,” said one of Knox’s college buddies. As her family sought to raise $500,000 for her defense and related expenses, one Seattle lawyer complained of “this supertanker of bad press” against Knox. “The prosecution has no forensic evidence at all,” she argued. “Zero.”
