Karl Rove is looking forward to testifying before the House Judiciary Committee concerning his alleged role in the sacking of several federal prosecutors, Fox News reports. But beware the “show trial,” Rove said, as “some Democrats would love to have me barbecued.” Rove will also be questioned about the prosecution of Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman, which Democrats claim was politically motivated.
Rove claims he merely passed along complaints about two federal prosecutors to White House counsel Harriet Miers and chief of staff John Bolten. Rove acknowledged that the chairman of the Judiciary Committee is likely more interested in him than Miers or Bolten: “I understand they may be the hors d’oeuvres, but I’m the main course.” (More Karl Rove stories.)
