A 22-foot pleasure boat smashed into a docked tug boat near Jacksonville, Fla., last night, killing at least five people and seriously injuring seven, the Florida Times-Union reports. The victims, many of them friends from California, were all on board the 2000 Crownline powerboat that appeared "beached on the barge" on the Intracoastal Waterway at Palm Valley, a witness said.

News of the crash left one Sonoma County, Calif., family devastated, said the brother of 23-year-old Robert Trenton Craig, who died in the accident. "He was carefree, hilarious, spontaneous," he said. "He was too young to have this happen to him." Alcohol, boat speed, and weather conditions may have played roles in the crash, an investigator said.
