A pet camel killed its Australian owner—purportedly after trying to mate with her. The camel, 10 months old but already weighing in at about 330 pounds, knocked the 60-year-old woman to the ground and lay on top of her. “I’d say it’s probably been playing, or it may be even a sexual sort of thing,” a policeman spokesman guessed.
A camel expert told the Telegraph he had no doubt the camel’s behavior was sexual, but added that young camels are only aggressive when they aren’t properly disciplined. The woman’s family gave her the pet camel, who nearly suffocated the family’s pet goat, as a birthday gift because of her love for exotic animals. (More Australia stories.)
