Calvin Klein has ditched a controversial Manhattan "foursome" billboard after angry New Yorkers complained that the ad was too much even for them, reports the New York Daily News. The ad, showing a teenage girl wearing only her Calvins making out with two stud muffins on a couch, as a third man, clothes disheveled, lies exhausted on the floor, has been replaced by a model emerging from the sea in a string bikini.
The old ad, shot by Steven Meisel, was so "explicit you didn't even notice the jeans as much as what was going on with the people," said one annoyed New Yorker. Calvin Klein officials had no comment on the switch, but one of the company's designers told New York magazine the tasteless picture was In the best tradition of Calvin Klein campaigns. "Everyone needs to be scandalized and screaming. This is what we want."
