When it comes to movies, nothing wows like an epic action sequence. Which flicks do stunt performers like best? Kevin Conley lists 'em for Slate:
- The Matrix Trilogy: Legendary kung fu director Yuen Wo-Ping didn't really want the job and issued near-impossible demands—including six months of training for stuntmen—hoping producer Joel Silver would leave him alone. Silver approved it all, and the rest is high-flying, slo-mo history.
- The Driver: Ryan O’Neal plays pinball with an orange Mercedes-Benz in a parking garage, scaring the crap out of his passengers in the process.
- Ong-Bak: Despite its ridiculous plot, star Panom Yeerum puts UFC’s best to shame, moving "like a mixed-martial-arts version of the young Baryshnikov."
- The Bourne series: The first film may have been the best, but the second and third installments set the gold standard for chase scenes.
