(AP Photo/Chuck Burton) (Associated Press) Michigan's awful first week continued yesterday as the team fell off Associated Press' media poll of the top 25 university teams. Ranked No. 5 at the start of the season, Michigan skidded off the list after losing to 1-AA Appalachian State on Saturday. No team has fallen that far in a single week since the poll expanded to 25 teams in 1989. University of Southern California remained at the top of the list, followed by LSU, West Virginia, Florida and Wisconsin. The Wolverines became the first ranked team from Division 1-A to lose to a team from I-AA. "It hurts because you don't like losing," said Michigan linebacker Chris Graham.
