(AP Photo/Anja Niedringhaus) General McChrystal says his bleak assessment of the US effort in Afghanistan has not created any ill will between him and the Obama administration, and he welcomed the national debate over the mission. In an interview with the New York Times, McChrystal also denied rumors that he will resign he doesn't get more troops. His specific request for them is expected to be submitted this week. “I believe success is achievable,” McChrystal said. “I can tell you unequivocally that I have not considered resigning at all.” The blunt tone employed in his assessment, which repeatedly warns of failure if the US effort is not strengthened, is all part of a healthy political process, McChrystal said. “A policy debate is warranted. We should not have any ambiguities, as a nation or a coalition.” Read These Next Gavin Newsom has filed a massive lawsuit against Fox News. New York Times ranks the best movies of the 21st century.
