Terror suspect Najibullah Zazi planned to make home-made bombs using ingredients he bought at stores selling beauty supplies, according to a federal indictment released yesterday. Zazi, charged with conspiracy to create weapons of mass destruction, allegedly stockpiled bottles of hydrogen peroxide and nail polish remover from Denver-area stores, reports the New York Daily News. "I have a lot of girlfriends," he told one clerk who asked why he was buying so many bottles of hair-care products.
Investigators, who view the case as one of the most serious in years, say Zazi checked into a motel suite with a stove after one shopping trip and apparently experimented with the ingredients. He arrived in New York on September 11 with 9 pages of bomb-making instructions stored on his laptop, including directions for making the same bombs used in the 2005 London Underground bombings, according to court papers.
