Wanna-be California governor and former eBay CEO Meg Whitman says she skipped voting for 28 years because of her family and her hubby's work. "I was focused on raising a family, on my husband's career, and we moved many, many times," she told reporters. "It is no excuse. My voting record, my registration record, is unacceptable."
It was Whitman's first public response to a Sacramento Bee investigation revealing that she didn't vote until the age of 46, and she didn't register as a Republican until 2007. Until the Bee piece appeared, Whitman was the favorite to win the Republican nomination for California governor. Her main rival, Steve Poizner, has called for her to be disqualified.
