Halderman: Dave Bedded '6 or 7' Staffers

Stephanie Birkitt is getting the most attention, but she's not be the only staffer David Letterman seduced—not by a long shot, says accused extortionist Robert Halderman. Halderman puts the figure at “six or seven,” a friend tells the New York Daily News. “He would fly them out on a chartered plane to the Indy 500 and put them up in five-star hotels.”

Regardless of the number the Late Show host slept with, “to say that he preyed upon women is absurd,” a former staffer says. In other Letterman news, a source close to his wife Regina Lasko says Lasko was the one who forced the comic to apologize a second time on Monday. The second statement “wasn’t something Dave wanted to do at all,” the source tells Fox News. “He wanted the whole thing to blow over.” (More David Letterman stories.)
