Two of the seven soldiers who wrote last month's influential New York Times op-ed criticizing the Iraq war died Monday when their truck veered off an elevated highway and flipped over. Seven GIs and two detainees were killed when the 5-ton cargo truck crashed. The military made no mention of hostile fire in the accident.

Op-ed writers Staff Sgt. Yance Gray, 26, and Sgt. Omar Mora, 28,  both left behind wives and young daughters. Mora was from Ecuador but had become a permanent resident of the US. He was due to take his citizenship oath when his tour ended in November. Another of the seven who penned the piece, Staff Sgt. Jeremy Murphy was shot in the head August 12, but survived.
