Polanski's Wife Defends Him

Roman Polanski's wife has defended her husband in a rare interview, calling the 1970s a "crazy time" of "sexual liberty and permissiveness." Speaking to the French edition of Elle, Emmanuelle Seigner says she's "not a super-liberal person who thinks that nothing is serious." But the actress and singer says that "at the time people didn't live and react in the same way," reports AFP.

The 43-year-old Seigner, who was 10 at the time of Polanski's arrest on charges that he drugged and raped a 13-year-old girl, has been with him 25 years and says she knew and "accepted" his version of events. She adds that her new album has a duet with Polanski about a girl who wakes up next to a stranger after a drunken night. "I was advised to remove it at the time (of his arrest), but I didn't want to," she says. "I can assure you there is no special message behind it." (More Roman Polanski stories.)
