Say what you will about Lady Gaga's music and barely-there costumes, the woman is well on her way to becoming a "feminist icon and a gender revolutionary," writes Chloe Angyal. Yes, she prances around nearly naked like Britney Spears and company, but with one key difference: She's not doing it to be a sex symbol.
"By wholeheartedly embracing the grotesque, she’s doing everything she can to be naked without being sexy," writes Angyal at SpiceToday. "In a culture that almost inevitably equates nudity with sex, this is remarkable." Lady Gaga is as much a performance artist as she is a pop artist, and she plain doesn't care if men think she's hot. "The way she plays with gender, sex and nudity, and in some cases, her music, suggests more than just a little feminism."
