Joran Van der Sloot tried to sell an unidentified buyer details about Natalee Holloway's death, including where to find her body, say Alabama authorities. The Dutch citizen, long a suspect in her 2005 disappearance in Aruba, allegedly asked for $250,000 and had received $15,000 in advance. Alabama authorities charged him with extortion, hours after Chilean authorities detained him for questioning in the slaying of Stephany Flores Ramirez in Peru, reports CNN.
That slaying occurred on the 5th anniversary of Holloway's disappearance. "If they have enough proof that he committed the crime in Peru, maybe, just maybe that might help to get him to confess in Natalee's case," a Holloway family lawyer tells the AP. "It just might crack him." Click here for the latest tragic details in the Flores case.
