  • The Macintosh was named for a variety of real apple: "Steve Jobs is said to have tried to change the project’s name to 'Bicycle' while the McIntosh-loving staffer was out of office."

  • The first Apple computer cost $666.66: Or the $500 wholesale price plus a markup of one-third; no "Satanic connotations."
  • Thank Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke for the name "iPod": "As soon as I saw the white iPod, I thought 2001,” a company copywriter says. “'Open the pod bay door, Hal!'"
  • The original logo featured Isaac Newton: "Sitting under a tree, with an apple about to hit his head."
