Police have confirmed that a body found in a wooded area in south Memphis is that of missing former NBA star Lorenzen Wright. He hadn't been seen since July 19, when a 911 call was made from his phone in which at least 10 gunshots could be heard. Wright, 34, was known to carry a wad of cash around, but police haven't said whether robbery is being considered as a motive, the Commercial Appeal reports.

Wright, a father of six, played for five teams in his 13-year NBA career, including his hometown Grizzlies and most recently the Cleveland Cavaliers. He had been due to fly to Israel this month to try out for a team there. He often used the area where his body was found as a shortcut to his mother's house, according to his personal assistant. "He was a good person," she said. "He did not deserve to die this way. God is not pleased with this."
