Politics | Lisa Murkowski Alaska Race Still Going, Getting Nastier Murkowski calls Miller 'paranoid'; he apologizes for tweet By John Johnson Posted Aug 28, 2010 12:33 PM CDT Copied Republican candidate Joe Miller and his wife, Kathleen, enter election central in Anchorage Tuesday, Aug. 24. (AP Photo/Michael Dinneen) The GOP Senate primary in Alaska may actually be getting uglier now that voting (but not vote-counting) is over. Incumbent Lisa Murkowski called Joe Miller "paranoid" for suggesting she's trying to get lawyers to tilt the razor-tight race in her favor, reports the Anchorage Daily News. (See his allegations about pulling "an Al Franken" here.) She also pointed out that he hired the attorney of Sarah Palin, who endorsed his candidacy and steered donations his way via the Tea Party Express. Better yet is the tweet under Miller's name that got transformed on blogs into a Joe-Miller-called-Lisa-Murkowski-a-prostitute! meme. One of his staffers, referring to rumors that Murkowski might run on the Libertarian ticket, tweeted: "What's the difference between selling out your party's values and the oldest profession?" Responded Murkowski: "Disgusting." Miller: "I certainly apologize to Senator Murkowski for any hurt feelings caused by this poorly conceived post." Meantime, he leads by about 1,600 votes with 20,000 absentee ballots yet to be processed. Read These Next Iran's supreme leader makes first public comments since ceasefire.
