Florida quarterback Tim Tebow set a long list of records as a player this year; now he's set one as an award winner by claiming the 2007 Heisman Trophy. He became the first sophomore, and the first underclassman of any stripe, to be voted the award since New York's Downtown Athletic Club began handing it out in 1935. Arkansas running back Darren McFadden finished second, the first to do so in consecutive years.

Tebow received 462 first-place votes from a national panel, easily outdistancing McFadden's 291. "I am fortunate, fortunate for a lot of things," Tebow said. "God truly blessed me and this just adds on. It's an honor. I'm so happy to be here." The son of missionaries who run a Philippines orphanage, Tebow was born in the archipelago and homeschooled there as a child before attending high school in Florida. (More Florida Gators stories.)
