Dzhokhar Tsarnaev reportedly lost his temper during a jail visit and made a self-incriminating remark, reports the Boston Globe. Federal prosecutors aren't saying what the remark was, describing it only as a "statement to his detriment" that was overhead by an FBI agent. It came while Tsarnaev was in the midst of a visit with one of his sisters and an investigator from the federal public defender's office. As the investigator was explaining some of the restrictions that Tsarnaev is under, the Boston bombing suspect proved "unable to temper his remarks" and let fly with ... something. The FBI agent was in the room at the time.
It came to light because the defense team wants a judge to lift those prison restrictions, and prosecutors mentioned the overheard conversation in their opposition to that request, reports AP. The remark should be admissible, they wrote. "The defense provides no support for the contention that the agent was required to close himself off from the conversation." Tsarnaev, 20, faces the death penalty when he eventually gets to trial. (More Dzhokhar Tsarnaev stories.)
