Justin Upton went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, including a three-run home run, to power the Arizona Diamondbacks to their eighth consecutive victory today, a 10-3 romp over the Colorado Rockies. The 20-year-old outfielder, the first overall pick in 2005, boosted his average to .415, including five home runs with 10 RBIs. Dan Haren (2-0) limited the Rockies to a run and five hits in six innings for the win.
The Diamondbacks have outscored Colorado 38-10 in going 5-0 against them. Last October, the Rockies swept Arizona in the NLCS. Upton chased Colorado's Franklin Morales with a 429-foot home run to left-center field that blew open a 7-1 lead with no outs in the fifth inning. He also singled and scored in the second, singled in the third and had an RBI sacrifice fly in the sixth. (More MLB stories.)
