Politics / liberal Left Breaks News; Right Can't Fix It Liberals add reporting to arsenal; pro-GOP sites mainly comment By Nick McMaster, Newser Staff Posted Jul 24, 2008 7:31 PM CDT Copied Republican presidential candidate Sen. While conservative political sites are principally opinion, lefty destinations like the Huffington Post and Talking Points Memo tread the line between reportage and commentary, breaking stories ignored by the mainstream media that advance liberal interests—and often hurt Republican candidates. With any number of cases where this reporting has eventually trickled out into the national conversation, such sites provide a steady drip of anti-GOP information—and have no equivalent across the aisle. “It’s something we have to get in gear on,” says a former Republican webmaster. “What drives discussion in the blogosphere is original information.” (More liberal stories.)
