Polls Show No Bump From Obama Trip

Neither Barack Obama’s foreign tour nor John McCain’s harsh attacks of it have made a dent in the polls, CNN reports. In the first poll conducted entirely after the trip, Obama holds a 51-44% lead, a mincing step up from last month’s 50-45% edge. His numbers on foreign policy and national security issues remained similarly stationary.

At the same time, McCain’s attacks have had little effect, particularly charges that the trip was presumptuously presidential. The trip was appropriate, said 72%, and 40% believe McCain is attacking Obama unfairly. Just 22% think Obama is attacking McCain unfairly. McCain’s only attack that did stick was against the media—40% say it improperly favors Obama. (More Barack Obama stories.)
