Obama, Bayh Yield Few VP Clues

Barack Obama held a town hall meeting in Indiana yesterday, but the star of the show was the man who introduced him: Evan Bayh, the arch-Clintonite senator rumored to be sitting atop Obama's VP shortlist. But, as the New York Times reports, neither Obama nor Bayh could be drawn on the subject, leaving media to divine what body language between the two might mean.

When someone at a diner asked, "What does the VP want?," Bayh responded, "You're causing trouble." And both Bayh and Obama insisted they discussed sports and family—not the vice presidency—during a bus trip to an event. Indiana hasn't gone Democratic since 1964, but the state has become a battleground this year, one which Bayh could help deliver.
