Barack Obama isn’t immune from Jon Stewart’s rancor. The Daily Show host took on the president yesterday for flip-flopping on government transparency and “don’t ask, don’t tell,” Gawker reports. After berating Obama for blocking the release of photos showing abuse of detainees and failing to intervene in the discharge of gay soldiers, Stewart showed the fine print of Obama’s “Yes We Can” slogan: “But that doesn’t necessarily mean we’re going to.”
Of gays in the military, Stewart said, “In this time of national crisis, when we are marshalling every tool at our disposal to fight this insidious enemy, Dan Choi is one of 54 Arabic translators dismissed due to their sexual preference. So it was OK to waterboard a guy over 80 times, but God forbid the guy who could understand what that prick was saying has a boyfriend.” (More Jon Stewart stories.)
