Following the deaths of at least three children, the Consumer Product Safety Commission today recalled roughly 1 million Simplicity and Graco cribs. "We do not want your child in that crib tonight," a CPSC spokesman told the Chicago Tribune. The cribs, manufactured in China, can trap and suffocate infants if the drop side is improperly installed.
The recall is the largest ever of full-size cribs. Two deaths were attributed to older models of the cribs, which first went on sale in 1998, and the CPSC is investigating the death of a 1-year-old in a newer model. (More product recall stories.)
